Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic music composer, performer and singer. He blends soul gospel with R&B to make a distinctive mixture. She's performed on Broadway in the Democratic National Convention and in clubs and festivals throughout Europe. Sunshine has been born Denise White. While she's based in Atlanta however, her ancestors are located in Chester Pennsylvania. There she initially began her journey as an artist by playing the piano as well as singing in churches. She was a student at Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her musical apprenticeship in the city's R&B scene. The Fighting Temptations The first single featuring her voice was called Stalk You which was a house 12-inch released only in Japan; it has since been remixed by numerous producers and is a staple in her live show. She has also contributed her vocals for The Fighting Temptations' soundtrack. The band was hired as the primary keyboardist in Tyler Perry's production Meet the Browns in 2005. In 2007, Grammy and Tony Award-winning vocalist Jennifer Holliday sought her out for the role of director of choral for the stage production of Dreamgirls during the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine came to national attention for her four-day performances during the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was eventually invited to sing for Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
