Aaliyah Dana Haughton came into the limelight in 1994 when she dropped her debut album Age Ain't Nothing But a number. At the time, she was just 15 years old. when the album was released and it went on to become Gold. The group was strongly in the style of R. Kelly, and put the singer onto the scene. In the year 1996 Jermaine and Timbaland came out with Aaliyah's sophomore album One In A Million. The album contained the single If Your Girls Only Knew the single that was most popular. Aaliyah was a well-known R&B vocalist after the release. She was a part of the romance and action film Romeo Must Die alongside martial artists Jet-Li. Joel Silver, the film producer, saw her at a awards ceremony and offered her the part. The film she was in was the Anne Rice-based vampire film Queen of the Damned, which premiered in 2002. She then got into the Matrix by playing Zee on The Matrix Sequels having also been as a character in The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 as well as The Matrix Revolutions in the same year. She received four nominations at the Grammy Awards in 2001, 1999 and 2002. But, she has both Aarti Mann as well as Aarti Majumdar for her professional name. She started her acting career as a minor actor in TV and film parts, however her fame increased in the mid 2000s. Other notable works she has done are Leverage 2012, Suits 2013, and Grey's Anatomy 2017. She has also been featured in commercials for big companies like the international auto manufacturer Volvo. She is currently working on her acting career with her home in Los Angeles, where she lives with her husband and daughter.
