Presently, the actress and former cover girl lives in Beverly Hills with her dogs Samantha and Olivia (above she left). Ann Turkel, who was engaged with Richard Harris for eight years prior to her divorce 20 years ago, is still trying to accept the death of Richard Harris. Turkel was born in a Jewish family, and was raised by her mother in Manhattan. At the age of 16, she had studied under Sanford Meisner and Philip Burton, both at the Neighborhood playhouse, as well as at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Ann together with a few of her high-school classmates made up a school rock and roll ensemble. Also, she performed in a season of summer stock theatre at the Berkshire Playhouse in Stockbridge, Massachusetts performing in plays like The Pajama Game" and West Side Story. It was while performing with her band at a fashion show when Ann was found by Gloria Schiff an editor at Vogue Magazine. Diana Vreeland ordered Ann to perform her first Vogue photo shoot with Richard Avedon within one week. Ann was among America's most viewed models. She was featured on the covers of top magazines, including Vogue Bazaar, Cosmopolitan and several other magazines. After two years Ann began to appear on international fashion shows performing well in Europe as well as Japan in the role of face for such cosmetic giants as Max Factor Revlon and Chanel.
